How to get itCheck your storefront → Verify the app → Buy and install → Import your existing configuration

What the purchase coversBuying the app does not include a server plan. Get any existing subscription from your provider.

Store availability

Storefront and account region

Shadowrocket is not available on the mainland China storefront. If it doesn’t appear in App Store search, first check which storefront your account uses rather than repeatedly changing your search terms. The country or region associated with your Apple ID determines the App Store catalog. Your device’s physical location, system language, and account storefront region are separate settings; none alone tells you whether the app is available to buy.

Check the account you’ll use to buy the app

Open Settings on your device, then go to Apple ID → Media & Purchases → Country/Region and follow the prompts to check the current region. If you first see an account-view option, verify your identity and continue to Country/Region. Also check which account is signed in to the App Store for purchases, so you don’t confuse the device’s Apple ID with the account that holds your purchase history.

If you need to review the options for changing your region, start from the same system path. Whether you can change it depends on your account status and Apple’s requirements shown during the process. Account balance, active subscriptions, or pending transactions may affect the steps. Read the system prompts and resolve any listed issues before deciding whether to continue. A region change is not guaranteed, and repeatedly changing settings to alter search results is not recommended.

Check the details on the product page

The App Store button on this page links to the designated Shadowrocket product page. The storefront in the link may differ from the region associated with your purchasing account, and the App Store may prompt you to switch to your account’s storefront. Opening the product page in a browser does not mean your account is eligible to buy the app. Check the App Store for availability, local pricing, payment prompts, and compatibility details.

If you get stuck during purchase or download, note the full message and determine whether the issue is regional availability, a pending payment, or device incompatibility. Each requires a different response. If you’re not sure whether the purchase went through, check your transaction history and Purchased list before proceeding. A download that hasn’t finished yet doesn’t necessarily mean the purchase failed.

App verification

Three details to verify

Search results may show similar names, descriptions or keywords. A translated nickname is not a substitute for product details. Before buying, verify the developer, official icon and app ID together; do not rely on search ranking, a similar-looking icon or a single word in the title.

  1. Developer: Shadow Launch Technology Limited. Check the developer details on the product page and verify the complete name character by character. Don’t rely on truncated text in search results or treat a name mentioned in the description as the developer field.
  2. Official icon: a rocket outlined in blue and purple on a white background. Compare the overall design and colors with the official icon in this site’s header. The icon is only one of the three checks; verify the developer and app ID as well, even if another icon looks similar.
  3. App ID: 932747118. The designated App Store link on this page ends in id932747118. This identifies the product page; it is not a version number and does not change with the interface language.

Once all three details match, check the app name Shadowrocket, device compatibility, and price on the product page. If any detail doesn’t match, stop and return to the designated product page on this site to verify again. Mentions of rule-based routing, protocol names, or similar features in a description do not prove that it is the same app.

Primary devices

Buying and opening the app on iPhone

Open the designated product page on your iPhone, verify the three app details, and check the compatibility section. Refer to the App Store listing for system requirements. The fact that the page opens on another device doesn’t mean this iPhone is compatible; use the purchase or download status shown in the App Store on this device.

  1. Make sure the App Store is signed in with the Apple ID you’ll use to keep the purchase, and check the local price shown on the product page.
  2. Follow the system prompts to confirm the purchase and complete any required authentication. Check the App Store transaction result and Purchased list to confirm that the purchase succeeded.
  3. Once the download is complete, open Shadowrocket. Have your own subscription or server details ready before configuring the app; you don’t need to turn on the connection switch as soon as you open it.

About VPN configuration permission

The first time you enable a connection or add a VPN configuration, the system may ask to allow adding a VPN configuration and require device authentication. This permission lets the client use the system’s networking capabilities to handle traffic; it is not another app purchase. Confirm that the request comes from the verified Shadowrocket app, then follow the prompts. If you cancel, you can grant permission later when you connect.

In Home, first understand the roles of the SERVER list, Global Routing, and the connection switch. Get any existing subscription from your provider. After importing it, make sure the servers appear correctly, then choose a default server. When selecting a Global Routing mode, understand how Config, Proxy, and Direct correspond to configuration, proxy, and direct connections. Avoid changing multiple settings before you understand the modes.

When everything is ready, connect and check the result with Connectivity Test and by visiting the services you need. If the purchase and installation succeeded but the test fails, check your server details and network conditions rather than buying the client again. See the Getting Started guide for import and testing steps.

Universal purchase

iPad and other compatible devices

Shadowrocket is available for both iPhone and iPad. After purchasing with an Apple ID, you can find the app under Purchased in the App Store on another compatible device and download it again. Before buying, check the account used for the original purchase. Refer to the App Store listing for system requirements and purchase availability; don’t buy it a second time just because you changed devices.

The larger iPad screen may change the layout and visible content compared with iPhone, but look for features by their actual interface labels, such as Home, Config, and Settings. The steps in the official guide remain the same: import your own details, select a server, check Global Routing, then connect and test. If a button is in a different place, confirm the current screen and item name instead of tapping based only on its position.

App purchase history and client configuration are separate. Even after restoring the app on iPad, check that your subscription, default server, and rule files are ready. Don’t assume your settings will automatically transfer in full from another device. If you restore a configuration backup, make sure its contents are still valid and remember that it may contain access credentials.

Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision

The compatibility section of the same App Store product page includes Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. Refer to the listing for system requirements, universal purchase availability, and compatibility with a specific device. The same product page is the place to get the app. The first-use and connection instructions on this page focus on iPhone and iPad; for other devices, check the relevant App Store details and follow the interface on your device.

Purchase history

Restore after changing or resetting devices

When switching devices or reinstalling after deleting the app, first use the Apple ID that made the original purchase to find your purchase history. Go to App Store → Account → Purchased, find Shadowrocket, and tap the redownload option. You don’t need to pay again for an app already purchased with that account, provided the purchase is recognized and the current device and storefront allow the download.

Menu names and locations may vary between system versions. Use the current App Store interface to find your purchase history. If the app isn’t listed, check that you’re using the right purchasing account, that no filters are applied, and that the app isn’t hidden. Your purchase history can help confirm which account made the purchase. If you see a price button, don’t confirm payment again until you’ve checked the original purchase record.

Restore your configuration after reinstalling the app

Redownloading restores access to the app, but it doesn’t necessarily restore all local data. After opening it, check the SERVER list, configuration files in Config, and essential settings in Settings. Get any existing subscription from your provider or use a configuration backup you’ve stored safely. After importing, confirm that the server details, rule files, and settings meet your current needs.

A new device may ask you to allow adding a VPN configuration again. After choosing a default server, first test a manual connection and run Connectivity Test. Then consider restoring automatic connection settings such as On Demand. Testing installation, configuration import, and connection conditions separately makes it easier to identify problems.

If you plan to use Family Sharing, refer to the App Store listing for availability, eligible family members, and purchase eligibility. Family Sharing and restoring a purchase with the same Apple ID are different conditions; don’t assume that one applies to the other.

What the price covers

Price and one-time purchase

Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app, purchased once through the App Store; there is no monthly app purchase fee. The US reference price is $2.99, while other storefronts show local currency. Check the App Store at the time of purchase for the actual price, tax display, and payment result. Don’t assume the US dollar reference price is the final amount charged in another storefront.

Check the requirements for the app and your existing network service separately. The app purchase is recorded by the App Store; the service depends on the server or subscription details you already have and whether they remain active. Installing the client does not mean your service details are still valid, and a working service does not replace purchasing the genuine app. When troubleshooting, identify which part is causing the issue before taking action.

App updates and maintenance

App updates are delivered through the App Store. Check your account’s app updates list and manage automatic updates in your device settings. Refer to the App Store for update history, current pricing, and system requirements. This page does not list version numbers or update dates, since that information changes over time and should not be treated as a permanent basis for purchase.

Keep a working configuration safe before updating or moving to a new device. Subscription links and configuration files may contain access credentials, so don’t share them publicly. After updating, check your default server and Global Routing, then test the connection. If only one service fails, don’t immediately erase all settings. For Config, protocols, and routine upkeep, see the maintenance section of the official guide.
